From the volunteers at the Volunteers needed for Mississauga Gurmat School @ Dunwin Gurughar
------------------------
Mississauga Gurmat School has been running for over three years, and we're successfully starting our fourth very shortly. We tend to have approximately 70-80 kids registering, with 50-60 attending on a regular basis. As overwhelming as our numbers may seem, it is a fun, positive and Sikhi-enriched environment, providing some of the tools our younger brothers and sisters need, to grow into the leaders of tomorrow.
We have structured classes consisting of Paat, Punjabi and Discussion/Gurmat. Teachers incorporate interesting and interactive lesson plans, enhancing our kids' learning experience as much as possible. Fun Nights and field trips are also planned throughout the year to give everyone the opportunity to 'kick back' and relax. Previous Fun Nights have included: pillow fights, skits, movies, skating, Raptors games, along with pizza, fries, chips and more great food!
Our teachers and organizers are comprised of people like yourself; individuals passionate about Sikhi and the community, some with formal teaching experience, but many who simply want to help others. Together, with parent and Gurdwara support, Gurmat School runs every Sunday (in accordance with the regular school year) from 10:45 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Currently we're looking for volunteers to assist in either one of the three classes. If you would like more information, please contact me at parmsc@yahoo.com as soon as possible, as classes will be starting Sep 19. Additionally, a kids Kirten Darbar and Registration Day will be held on Sep 12 at Mississauga Gurdwara (Dunwin Drive). Please show your support by attending, or by introducing yourself if interested in volunteering.
